Lighting can be controlled on an overall building level or individualised for specific rooms or certain operations within a room. For example, in an office conference room the lighting system can be set to bring on full light when needed for a team meeting or change to the optimal lighting levels for a video call or staff presentations.
And of course, when the room is vacant the lights will automatically turn off. Throughout any building, sensors can detect daylight and turn on or off lighting depending on their necessity. In a school, lights can be set to heighten intensity at optimal times to increase alertness and attentiveness.
In a car park, our Luxavo lighting systems have the ability to turn on and off lights above each parking space depending on whether or not it is occupied.

A centrally controlled lighting system will allow you to manage energy consumption whilst maintaining the guest experience. Switching lights off when not required and dimming lights just slightly can have a proportional positive affect on the electricity used on a daily basis.
Central management allows staff to monitor and control lights in any area (front-of-house. Back-of-house and in guest rooms) from one location, meaning time is not wasted moving to an area to check whether the lights are on or off.
Allow the system to tell you there is maintenance required, before you or your guest discover it. Alerts can be sent to relevant departments i.e. a light bulb fails in a guest room, alert is sent to maintenance, who replace the bulb while the guest room is unoccupied, before the guest has even noticed. It allows specific targeting of tasks and gives you peace of mind that the system is being monitored discretely 24/7.
Integrated door locks can allow reception staff to open a door for a guest, without visiting the room. NFC capable locks mean that a guest can open the lock with their smart phone – paving the way for remote check-in/out, which means that reception desks may not necessarily be needed.
IT & NETWORKING
Internet security is very important. Having a correctly deployed network ensures security between public and private networks. Guest networks can be isolated so that guests only have access to the internet and not other devices. Login pages / hotel info / adverts can be presented to a guest when connecting to the public wifi.
Billing can also be implemented depending on your policy. Having an IT infrastructure that can handle the amount of data at the time of deployment, but with enough headroom to expand with future technologies, is also a design consideration, and one we can assist with.
GUEST ROOM SERVICES
All guest services can be triggered from technology and fed into the
PMS system. Do-not-Disturb and Housekeeping requests can be
discretely made from the light switch, rather than a card placed on
the door handle. Sensors in trays can be detected by receivers in the
door signage alerting staff to room service trays that have been left
in the corridor. Premium TV billing, on-screen room service/spa/
golf menus, Intelligent Mini-bars all can integrate with the booking
engine, allowing check-out to be efficient and ensuring all services
used are charged correctly.
This data can also be used to improve the guests’ stay next time.
The PMS can alert the BMS/HVAC that a room is checked in or out,
allowing the temperature to be adjusted accordingly, which in turn
saves on energy consumption and makes costs more predictable.
LARGE SCALE MULTI ROOM
A TV system using IP as distribution significantly reduces cabling cost, but also allows the TV system to be integrated into the PMS system – either simply displaying the guest name on arrival, displaying hotel information, or tied into a booking engine to allow the guest to order services from the comfort of their room. Deals or packages based on a history of the guests’ previous stays can be pushed to the guest, letting them know that they are important to you.
TVs can also use BYOD (bring your own device) so guests can cast streaming services such as Netflix from their device, meaning that their personal logins will never be input on the system, but rather held on their personal devices only.
